We are seeking a Grant Accountant, who will manage and oversee the accounting functions of restricted grant and contract funds. This vital role requires a high degree of competency and independence, aimed at ensuring the financial integrity of project funding from inception to completion.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the fiscal management of restricted grant and contract funds, ensuring accuracy and compliance with university and federal regulations.
- Conduct complex reconciliations throughout the project lifecycle to maintain financial integrity.
- Analyze and approve expenditures for audit risk, and monitor compliance of sub-recipients.
- Proactively manage grant and contract expenditures, implementing corrective actions to mitigate non-collectible costs.
- Interpret and enforce complex policies and regulations to university staff and principal investigators, ensuring consistency and compliance across departments.
- Engage frequently with key university personnel, offering expert advice on agency guidelines and university policies.
- Facilitate training sessions for departmental staff to enhance understanding of financial processes and compliance.
- Assist in the preparation of annual financial audit documents and support auditors with necessary reports and queries.
- Prepare and submit detailed financial reports and billing documents as required by funding agencies.
- Participate and contribute to special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- At least three years of relevant professional accounting or financial experience.
- Proficiency in using spreadsheets and various accounting systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth understanding of university policies and procedures.
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is highly desirable.
- Experience with Banner or similar government/non-profit software
